These drawings begin with washes of graphite on clayboard. Once that texture is settled I use pencils to bring out details that are evocative of biological forms. I grow these drawings spontaneously without a clear sense of how they will appear in the end. Fans of the fiction writer H.P. Lovecraft will likely see the influence of his writings in my work. For me, science fiction is a genre ripe with opportunities for overlaying the imaginative on top of the natural world to visualize the possibilities of life.
